BMHA directly manages over 4000 apartments that are located in public housing developments throughout the city of Buffalo, BMHA is also a partner in several privately managed developments.  The BMHA is not an emergency housing program.  We are a resource offering high quality safe and desirable housing for lower income families and individuals.  All placements are made from wait list as openings occur, and extended waiting periods are the norm.

To apply for any of our federally supported public housing apartments, call 855-6774 or come into our central occupancy office located at 245 Elmwood Avenue.  Office hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8 AM until noon, and from 1:30 PM until 3:30 PM.  After placing an application on file, an offer letter is sent informing the applicant about the development options available and the estimated waiting periods for each development.  Applicants may place their name onto the wait list of their choice.  A change in wait list choice is allowed at any time, however your name will be entered onto the new wait list as of the date you make your new selection.
