Section 3 Program

The Section 3 Program provides employment opportunities in the construction field with contractors working on housing authority properties. Participants will be expected to participate in a Job Readiness Workshop and pass a pre-employment drug test prior to being referred to contractors for employment.

Applications are available in the Main Lobby at 300 Perry Street and the BMHA Employment Centers.

Family Self-Sufficiency Program

The FSS Program is a voluntary program designed to assist families in utilizing community resources such as education, job training and supportive services in order to move toward self sufficiency and economic independence. The FSS Program offers a financial incentive to all participating families through an escrow savings account established for you. When participants successfully complete the program, the escrow funds accumulated will be transferred to you.

Computer Literacy

The ATTAIN Lab located in the Kenfield development offers residents computer training in Microsoft Office applications in Word, Excel and Power Point. Free transportation is available to all participating residents.

Schedule: Monday-Friday from 9am-11am

Frederick Douglass Community Center offers an eight week computer class that covers Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
Class schedule: Monday-Friday from 9am-12pm

GED

The ATTAIN Lab also offers GED classes with Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) that provide individualized instruction. Classes are scheduled Monday, Wednesday, & Friday from 4pm-8pm.

Financing Your Independence

This course is based on "The National Standards in Personal Finance". These standards identify what students should know to handle personal finances by covering topics such Income, Money Management, Spending & Credit and Savings & Investing. This course is only a starting point but will put you on the road to mastering your personal finances. Sponsored by the Educational Opportunity Center.
