In 1991, the Common Council designated Hamlin Park an overlay review district in order to preserve the residential character of the community. This ordinance restricts any change of use for Hamlin Park properties, and requires that a permit be obtained for any modifications or repairs valued at more than $5,000 ($10,000 on the Canisius campus).
