Mayor Byron W. Brown's Livable Communities Initiative

Dear Community Leader,

On behalf of the City of Buffalo, I am pleased to announce that the Livable Communities Grant Initiative application is available The purpose of the Livable Communities Grant Program is to provide funding to Block Clubs, community organizations and civic/citizens associations for the implementation of innovative projects that will provide measurable visual, physical, and environmental improvements in their neighborhoods. Below you will find the guidelines and application packet for this initiative. This information is also available on the City of Buffalo’s website at: http://www.city-buffalo.com.

Any established block club or civic/citizens association located in the City of Buffalo, New York is eligible for funding; however, priority will be given to grassroots community-based organizations (CBO) or Block Clubs whose mission is related to improving the city’s neighborhoods. First preference will be given to projects located in one of the thirteen (13) targeted Livable Communities neighborhoods, as well as the Home Zone and Mid-City NRSA areas. Grants range from $100 to $5,000 ($7,500 for neighborhoods in one of the targeted Livable Communities neighborhoods). To be considered for funding, all applicants are required to submit one original and two additional copies of the application package by 4:30 p.m. by March 3, 2010 to:
