Commissioner Garnell W. Whitfield, Jr. A 26 year veteran of the Buffalo Fire Department, Garnell W. Whitfield, Jr. began his career with the Buffalo Fire Department in September of 1984 as a front-line Firefighter serving at Engine 37, Engine 31 and Engine 33. In November of 1998 he was promoted to Chief Fire Administrator serving as liason between Civil Service and the New York State Police and Fire Retirement System. In November of 2004, he was appointed to Deputy Commissioner of Administration and Personnel, then on to Deputy Commissioner of Emergency Medical Services. In January of 2010, Mayor Byron W. Brown appointed him Commissioner of the Buffalo Fire Department.
Radio Call Sign "B-51" A 25 year veteran of the Buffalo Fire Department, Vincent R. Gugliuzza began his career with the Buffalo Fire Department in April 1985. A front-line Firefighter from 1985-1999, he served at Engine 26, Engine 24 and Ladder 7. From 1999-2002 he served as President-Executive Board member of Local 282 IAFF. From 2002-2009, he served as Fire Suppression and Service Technician, as well as Executive Vice-President of Local 282 IAFF. In April of 2010, Vincent R. Gugliuzza was appointed by Mayor Byron W. Brown to serve as Deputy Fire Commissioner in charge of administration and personnel. |
