South Buffalo Brownfield Opportunity Area - SEQRA

In accordance with the provisions of the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA), on March 18, 2008, the City of Buffalo Common Council assumed the role of lead agency for the South Buffalo Brownfield Opportunity Area Plan Adoption and Implementation (Proposed Action). The Common Council also determined that the project may generate significant environmental impacts and, as a result, a Draft Generic Environmental Impact Statement (DGEIS) must be prepared. As a result of this determination, the Common Council issued a Positive Declaration/Notice of Public Scoping Meeting.

In accordance with SEQRA, the Common Council has initiated a process to define the scope of the DGEIS. As a first step in that process, a Draft Scoping Document for the DGEIS was prepared. A public scoping meeting was held on April 9, 2008 and comments from agencies and the public were collected. Based on the input received on the Draft Scoping Document, a Final Scoping Document is being prepared.
