  • Responsible for maintaining Parks (Major & Minor), Playgrounds and medians throughout the City of Buffalo
  • Sponsor and support various gardening projects, major seasonal events, Adopt-a-Park program
  • Maintain and operate 3 Golf courses (Delaware Park, Cazenovia Park and South Park)
  • Issue permits for various entertainment and special events held in City parks (Picnics, Friendship Festival etc.)
  • Lends support to road races and major runs (Buffalo Marathon, Corporate Challenge etc.)
  • Rent out portable bandwagon for various events

  • Provide and issue permits for various playing fields throughout the park system for baseball, softball, football, soccer and rugby
  • City wide field co-ordination (High Schools, Colleges and organizations)
  • Co-sponsor two tennis tournaments
  • Maintain and operate 10 outdoor and 2 indoor swimming pools, with learn to swim, open swim, seniors swim and adult swim programs
  • Maintain and operate 3 indoor ice rinks with ice rental, open skate and learn to skate programs
  • Maintain and operate 10 recreation centers
  • P.A.L. Baseball, Basketball, Boxing and Cliff Robertson Basketball tournament

  • Maintain all trees along City streets and those located in parks, including spraying, pruning and trimming
  • Plant and transplant trees
  • Removal of undesirable vegetation, diseased trees and brush etc.
  • Cleanup of storm damaged or vehicle damaged trees
