Home > City Departments > Public Works, Parks & Streets > City of Buffalo & Re-TreeWNY City of Buffalo & Re-TreeWNY![]() The City of Buffalo has partnered with Re-Tree Western New York, an initiative of Keep Western New York Beautiful, to carry forth a Community Reforestation Empowerment Initiative for our “City of Trees”. The goal of Re-Tree WNY is to mobilize the community, build capacity in our neighborhoods to take action and re-forest every public area in our region damaged by the storm. To this end, we are calling upon all interested individuals, block clubs, schools, faith based groups and other organizations to partner with us to fulfill our goal to collectively restore our tree canopy and rebuild our status as the “City of Trees”. Re-Tree’s successful spring planting, which resulted in over 1,200 new trees in the ground throughout Buffalo and Western New York, is a testament to the feats that can be accomplished when we all work collaboratively together. This autumn we want to do more! Would you like to organize a tree planting in your neighborhood?
If you are not part of a group doing a planting and organizing one yourself but would still like to volunteer to plant trees this fall please contact the Mayor’s Call & Resolution Center at 716-851-4890. If you are an individual, not a part of a group, and would like the City of Buffalo to replace the tree in front of your house contact the Mayor’s Call & Resolution Center at 716-851-4890. *** Please note that the trees that will be provided through this program are for public right of way only (Between the sidewalk and curb), and cannot be planted on private property. |
