The Real Estate Division is responsible for managing real estate for the City of Buffalo. Specifically the division maintains and manages all properties acquired through City foreclosure, maintains public facilities including school buildings, and actively promotes the sale of these properties.

The Division of Real Estate is responsible for providing properties to the City's "Making Houses Homes" program that works with local community based organizations and the Buffalo Neighborhood Revitalization Corporation (BNRC) to link potential buyers with available existing housing or vacant lots for purchase or acquisition through the City of Buffalo Urban Homesteading Program.
