SanFilippo Announces Financial Reporting Award

Buffalo City Comptroller Andrew A. SanFilippo announced today that the city’s comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) has been honored for the second straight year with a certificate of excellence from the Government Finance Officers Association.

“This is indeed an honor,” said SanFilippo, “and reflects on the hard work and dedication of the public employees in my department and throughout the city.  The recognition by Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) is especially gratifying because it is recognition from your peers in the financial community.”

Official notification for the latest award came in a letter to the comptroller from GFOA, dated July 28, 2008, stating the city’s report “qualifies for a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting,” and noting that it is “the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.”

The city expects to receive its Certificate of Achievement Plaque shortly and Comptroller SanFilippo said it will be displayed prominently in his department and on the Comptroller’s web site, www.city-buffalo.com.
