The Permit and Inspections Services Department helps to make the buildings that we live in and use, safe.

The primary mandate of the Department is to oversee all types of building and site work in the City of Buffalo, by administering applicable Federal, State and City codes.

Administration is carried out through the Department's four offices: the Office of Permits, the Office of Building Code Review, the Office of Housing and Inspections, and the Office of Licenses. These offices regulate aspects of City development by code enforcement, which maintains public health and life safety standards. The second function of the Department is to coordinate the review, approval, inspection, and record-keeping from City agencies that have oversight on a given project.
