Will Deliver Keynote Speech at Kennedy School's Annual "City Fair"

BUFFALO - Mayor Byron Brown will travel tomorrow to Cambridge, Massachusetts to deliver the keynote address for the 6th Annual City Fair hosted by Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government and the Institute of Politics.

The Mayor was invited to participate by Joseph J. McCarthy, Senior Associate Dean and Director of Degree Programs at the Kennedy School.

The invitation followed Mayor Brown's earlier participation in January at the Kennedy School's Newly Elected Mayor's Conference. Organizers of City Fair, including Dean McCarthy, expressed great admiration for Mayor Brown and stated that his enthusiastic participation in the Mayor's Conference prompted them to invite him to the City Fair event.

"I am honored and very happy to participate in the City Fair activities sponsored by the Kennedy School and the Institute of Politics," said Mayor Brown. "This is a great opportunity, before such a prestigious audience, to discuss my administration's goals and objectives for revitalizing Buffalo. I look forward to telling our story and letting everyone know what's good and promising about Buffalo."

The Mayor's keynote address will occur in the renowned John F. Kennedy Jr. Forum, a site that has hosted speeches by several presidents of the United States, other heads of state and countless dignitaries.

City Fair is designed to connect city representatives from across the U.S. with Harvard graduate students seeking careers in local government. Other mayors who have delivered past keynote addresses include: Martin O'Malley of Baltimore; Anthony Williams of Washington, D.C.; and Richard Daley of Chicago.

Former New Hampshire Governor Jeanne Shaheen, now director of Harvard's Institute of Politics, will introduce Mayor Brown for his remarks.
