Buffalo’s Favorite Polish Dish Part of National Brand Contest

BUFFALO –Mayor Byron W. Brown today announced the winning contestants from the City of Buffalo’s first-ever “Pierogi Pride” event, which was held on Friday, August 25th in Niagara Square. The contest was part of the city’s overall effort to be designated Capital of the Pierogy Pocket by Mrs. T’s, the national food brand based in Shenandoah, PA.

“Our city’s Pierogi Pride celebration was a great success in large part because of the participants in our pierogi contest, which brought out the best in Buffalo’s pierogi- making restaurants and other purveyors,” said Mayor Brown. “Our rich Polish and Eastern European heritage is a source of great pride throughout Buffalo and Western New York and this event highlighted the fact that above all else, the City of Buffalo should be the unquestioned Capital of the Pierogy Pocket.”
