Program coordinated with area veterinarians and the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets

Mayor Byron W. Brown today announced that the City of Buffalo Animal Shelter is offering a unique opportunity to pet owners interested in having their pets spayed or neutered.

Working in cooperation with local participating veterinarians and the NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets, the City of Buffalo Animal Shelter will provide spaying and neutering to pet owners who are New York State residents who receive temporary assistance, food stamps, Medicaid, are in a low-income housing program or receive SSI.

Anyone that fits these requirements is eligible for a special program whereby their dog or cat can be spayed or neutered for a minimal $20 co-pay* at an approved veterinarian (*pre-surgical immunizations may be required).

Applications and more information on the program can be obtained by visiting the City of Buffalo Animal Shelter at 380 Oak Street, Buffalo.  You may also download the application at:  http://www.agmkt.state.ny.us/AI/apc.html or receive an application by mail by calling 1-888-669-0870 or 652-1359 (Second Chance Spay/Neuter).
