The City of Buffalo Office of Strategic Planning announces the first South Buffalo Brownfield Opportunity Area (BOA) Project Kickoff Event. The event will take place on Tuesday, March 11, 2008, from 6:00 – 9:00 PM at Southside Elementary School, 430 Southside Pkwy, Buffalo, NY 14210. The meeting will include a project presentation and will provide community members with the opportunity to view project displays, provide input and discuss the BOA initiative with project consultants and City officials.

The City of Buffalo has been awarded a significant grant through the New York State Departments of State and Environmental Conservation BOA Program to conduct a Nomination Study for the South Buffalo BOA. The South Buffalo BOA is roughly bounded by the Buffalo River to the north, Hopkins Street and South Park Avenue to the east, the Buffalo-Lackawanna city boundary to the south and Route 5 to the west.

This process includes extensive community involvement intended to gain feedback and participation from the community. The study process is anticipated to run from November 2007 until March 2009.

Any questions or comments regarding the South Buffalo BOA project can be referred to John Fell from the City of Buffalo Office of Strategic Planning by calling 851-5035 or by email at mailto:southbuffaloboa@city-buffalo.com, or visit http://www.city-buffalo.com/Home/Leadership/City_Departments/OSP/South_Buffalo_Brownfield_Opportunity_Area for more information.
