January 2008 > Mayor Brown Announces New Administration Appointment Mayor Brown Announces New Administration AppointmentSource/Contact Mayor Appoints Donna Brown as Deputy Mayor BUFFALO – Mayor Byron Brown today appointed Donna M. Brown as Deputy Mayor. Ms. Brown will begin her new position in the Brown Administration immediately (Ms. Brown is not related to Mayor Brown). As Deputy Mayor, Ms. Brown, who will earn $85,000, will focus on housing and community development issues, education, youth initiatives, community relations, business development/job creation and the development of an anti-poverty strategy for the Brown Administration. Ms. Brown will serve as the Administration’s liaison with the Buffalo Public Schools and the district-wide Joint Schools Construction Project. In addition, she will represent the Administration on the Mayor’s Anti-Flipping Task Force, while coordinating city-based housing initiatives in collaboration with the Office of Strategic Planning. She will also bring her private sector expertise in M/WBE business development initiatives to expand city programs and manage follow-up with city department heads to achieve required results determined through the CitiStat Buffalo program. Ms. Brown will also help lead the development and implementation of future new components of CitiStat Buffalo. A 1983 graduate of D’Youville College with a B.S. in Business Management/English, Ms. Brown, since 2002, has been employed at LPCiminelli Inc. Over the past five years, Ms. Brown served as Director of Community Relations, coordinating LPCiminelli’s interaction with elected officials and community leaders on the ten-year, $1 billion Joint Schools Construction Project in the Buffalo Public School District. Following her years overseeing the company’s M/WBE business development initiatives, managing mentoring programs in collaboration with the Buffalo Public Schools, coordinating and executing LPCiminelli’s public communications strategies and serving as a direct point of contact with community based organizations, Ms. Brown was promoted in November 2007 to the position of Assistant Vice President of LPCiminelli Solutions. “Donna Brown has played a significant role in a variety of community-based programs and initiatives throughout her professional career,” said Mayor Brown. “She comes to my Administration with extensive experience in the private and public sectors, possessing an impressive understanding of how policies and initiatives can be properly effectively implemented to benefit the residents of our city.
