Mayor Griffin’s Official Portrait to be Displayed in City Hall Main Lobby

Mayor Byron W. Brown today announced that Mayor James D. Griffin’s official mayoral portrait will be placed on display in the Main Lobby of City Hall beginning tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m.  The portrait will remain in the Main Lobby location daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. from tomorrow Thursday, May 29th through Wednesday, June 4th (it will not be on display over the weekend).

“I think it’s a fitting tribute to Mayor Griffin and his years of public service, especially his 16 years as Mayor, that we place his official portrait in a place of honor in City Hall’s Main Lobby,” said Mayor Brown. “With the Mayor’s funeral scheduled for tomorrow, I wanted to give residents of Buffalo and the region an opportunity to come to City Hall and pay their respects to Mayor Griffin and his family.”

A sign-in book will be placed by Mayor Griffin’s portrait, providing citizens an opportunity to leave their names and condolences for the Mayor and his family.  When the portrait is returned next week to its usual location in the Mayor’s office, the sign-in book will be delivered to Mayor Griffin’s family.
