Vote on Proposed Fire Fighters Contract

Public Statement
Mayor Byron W. Brown
February 11, 2007

Re: Vote on Proposed Fire Fighters Contract

I continue to work hard to honor my pledge to lift the wage freeze on city workers.

This agreement would have provided our fire fighters with a 30% pay increase and I believe it was mutually beneficial to city taxpayers and fire fighters.

This agreement was negotiated in good faith and it provided our fire fighters with an opportunity to vote to lift the wage freeze; unfortunately, they chose not to.
