LWRP Coastal Management Policies

The following is a list of the Coastal Management Policies as mandated by the New York Department of State, Division of Coastal Resources as part of their Coastal Management Program (CMP). These waterfront revitalization policies and their associated standards are to be used in guiding appropriate development and actions for a local community undertaking a Local Waterfront Revitalization Program.

These thirteen policies consider the physical, economic, environmental, and cultural characteristics of a community. They are comprehensive and reflect existing laws and authority regarding development and environmental protection. Together, these policies and their standards are to be used to determine an appropriate balance between economic growth and development, and preservation that will permit the beneficial use of the waterfront resources.
