Marketing Plan

Mission

To market the Hamlin Park Community to middle and upper class families through activities and educational projects that feature its' history and assets.

History

The Marketing Committee of HPCTA was established in August 2002, and set forth on designing a strategy to improve the image of the community. Various methods were used, including partnering with the Canisius College Public Relations and Advertising classes to create a blueprint for future marketing activities. Another strategy included meeting with bankers and realtors to educate them about Hamlin Park and its' assets. This was a key to decreasing the number of speculators buying property for rental purposes. The Committee has impressed upon the realty community the need for marketing homes to prospective homeowners.

Further activities designed to attract potential homeowners and increase beautification of the neighborhood included the coordination of a House and Garden Tour with NYS Senator Byron W. Brown. This tour has drawn individuals from other parts of the City as well as the suburbs, creating interest and intrigue about the splendor of Hamlin Park. The Committee has worked with other HPCTA Committees to market all Hamlin Park events.

The Committee created a major marketing campaign called the "Hamlin Park Winter Jubilee". This four-day holiday event focuses on activities for the community's residents, businesses, and friends. The annual event consists of a Holiday Light contest, a Winter Ball (with a portion of the proceeds to benefit the Hamlin Park School # 74), Youth Day and Horse and Carriage Tours, and Caroling at the community's two nursing homes. A Partnership Award ceremony, held during the Ball, recognizes contributions to the community by government, businesses, and individuals. The WinterJubilee and the House and Garden Tour has gained momentum and have spurred community spirit needed to attract new homeowners.

Current Marketing Plans and Activities

Recently, the Buffalo Niagara Association of Realtors (BNAR) has partnered with the Hamlin Park Community and Taxpayers' Association in its' Catch the Spirit Buffalo campaign. The BNAR began their Catch the Spirit Buffalo campaign in 2002. The campaign provides a way for realtors
to contribute to the revitalization of city neighborhoods through their marketing skills. Realtors bring awareness to rehabilitation, revitalization and improvements for the quality of life in the City of Buffalo through information about available financing as well as other volunteerism. Neighborhoods are chosen based on streetscapes and homes with architectural merit, have striving block clubs, schools, churches and other strong organizations. Through this project realtors participate in many neighborhood-walking tours, attend community events such as summer and winter festivals, garden tours and even sponsor activities to showcase the neighborhood.

Currently, the HPCTA's Marketing Committee is finishing an updated brochure that will feature a new logo. It is working to develop its' web site with the Neighborhood alliance and will begin efforts to create a oral history film/video and picture chronology.
