New Police Vehicles

Mayor Byron Brown, Police Commissioner Daniel Derenda, along with members of the Buffalo Police Department rolled out the new black and white Chevrolet Tahoe police vehicles. 12 of the 49 new vehicles hit the streets this morning.

“Public Safety continues to be a top priority in Buffalo, and these newly designed black and white Police vehicles are just another way we are improving the safety of our neighborhoods through increased visibility,” said Mayor Brown.

The Tahoe two wheel drive police pursuit vehicle (PPV) provide a combination of utility, safety, performance, and a low life-cycle cost. This vehicle is built to be versatile for a range of tasks. The new design follows the nationwide trend of going back to the traditional black and white color design for local law enforcement.
“I believe that with these new state of the art vehicles we will see an increase in public safety,” said Police Commissioner Derenda. “These new vehicles are just the start of the process of replacing our current fleet.”

There is currently no plan to change the existing fleet to black and white. As the new Tahoes arrive, the oldest and/or most worn marked vehicles in the fleet will be retired.
