Food Truck Thursday

City of Buffalo pilot program provides downtown residents and workers with even more lunch time options during the summer months

June 4, 2015o - Thanks to Mayor Byron Brown’s continued commitment to local businesses, downtown residents and workers will now have access to Buffalo’s favorite food trucks and stationary cart food vendors at Niagara Square on 13 consecutive Thursdays during the summer months.  Today, Mayor Brown announced that this year, for the first time, 8 of the city’s licensed food trucks and stationary cart food vendors signed on to participate in a pilot program called ‘Food Truck Thursday’ at Niagara Square, providing even more summer-time lunch options for downtown residents and workers.

“Not only will this program help further bolster the thriving local food truck community and add to the vitality that continues to build in downtown Buffalo, but it will provide downtown residents and workers with additional summer-time lunch options,” said Mayor Brown.

The Mayor’s Office of Special Events invited vendors to participate in the pilot program earlier this spring by filling out the required application and obtaining the required permit to set up and sell their products in Niagara Square in front of City Hall.  The pilot program officially began Thursday, June 4, 2015 and will run from 11 am – 2 pm for the 13 Thursdays in June, July and August.

The 8 participating vendors carry a valid license from the City of Buffalo’s Division of Licenses and will be assigned a minimum of 4 Thursdays on a rotating basis.  The program fee was $100.00 per vendor plus the cost of a Temporary Stand License ($31.50), which will be good for the duration of the program.  The remainder of the fee will be used for the future beautification of Niagara Square.

Participating vendors include:  House of Munch, Mineo & Sapio, Thai Me Up Food Truck, The Flaming Fish, Tomaso’s, Big Suzie’s Little Bakery, Greek on the Street and Swingin’ Dogs.

The Niagara Square Food Truck preliminary schedule for summer 2015 is as follows:
