Improvements To The Hatch

$900,000 project includes a new dining space, with capabilities to keep the popular downtown waterfront restaurant open year-round

May 26, 2015– Mayor Byron Brown and representatives from Molly’s World Inc, the operators of The Hatch, marked the official start of the 2015 Summer Season at Erie Basin Marina where a $900,000 project that includes a new dining space at The Hatch, with capabilities to keep the downtown waterfront restaurant open year-round, is now underway.  The project also includes a new full service kitchen, bar and concrete patio.

“It’s great to see continued transformation and investment along the downtown waterfront,” said Mayor Brown.  “My administration continues to make major investments at Erie Basin Marina because we know city residents and visitors want more access to Buffalo’s beautiful waterfront, a premier downtown and regional attraction that’s filled with the potential for even more economic growth.  Improvements to The Hatch, along with its potential transformation into a year-round restaurant destination, add to the significant progress underway along the waterfront and citywide, enhancing the experience for city residents and visitors.”

This latest project at The Hatch is part of a $3.7 million investment made by the Brown Administration at Erie Basin Marina since 2006.  Other recently completed projects include: a $640,000 Ice Cream Stand & Clam Bar, $1.1 million for a new boardwalk, handicap accessible restrooms and new security gates for boaters.

The improvements are expected to be completed by the end of 2015.
