Clear The Shelter

July 20, 2016 - Mayor Byron Brown and the City of Buffalo are pleased to announce that the Buffalo Animal Shelter is teaming up with WGRZ CH. 2 ON YOUR SIDE to host NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations’ Clear the Shelters second annual nationwide pet adoption drive. City of Buffalo Animal Shelter will waive pet spay and neutering fees on Saturday, July 23, as part of the nationwide Clear the Shelters initiative that seeks to find new homes for homeless pets.

“Every year, our Shelter provides care for hundreds of homeless animals that seek refuge here, and with the help of our volunteer and fund raising organization, Friends of CBAS, we are thrilled to be able to participate in this event and will be waiving the spay/neuter expense for all animals adopted on July 23 between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.,” said Kelly McCartney, Director of the City of Buffalo Animal Shelter.
This year’s Clear the Shelters event comes after last year’s highly successful inaugural effort, which resulted in nearly 20,000 pets finding new homes through an unprecedented partnership between the NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations and hundreds of animal shelters located all across the country and in Puerto Rico. The nationwide day of action literally emptied dozens of animal shelters across the country and inspired local communities to take action and open their homes to animals in need.
