Rich Products Supports The Opportunity Pledge

Mayor Brown thanks Rich’s for joining individuals and organizations across Buffalo in signing the pledge

January 8, 2016 - As momentum continues to build for the City of Buffalo Opportunity Pledge, Mayor Byron Brown was pleased to welcome support from Rich Products Corporation.  Today, he stopped by Rich Products World Headquarters, located on Niagara Street in Buffalo, where he met with several dozen Rich Associates who signed the pledge.

“We continue to build a city of opportunity in Buffalo to ensure that all citizens benefit from our rising prosperity,” said Mayor Brown, noting that over $5.5 billion in new economic development activity is currently underway in Buffalo which is expected to create over 12,000 new jobs.  “I thank Bob and Mindy Rich and Rich Products for helping us continue to build a culture of inclusion and equity in Buffalo in an effort to keep Buffalo’s significant economic transformation going strong.”

The City of Buffalo Opportunity pledge encourages businesses, organizations and residents to commit to building a culture of inclusiveness and equity in Buffalo. To date, nearly 4,145 individuals, 173 businesses/organizations have signed the pledge, representing over 53,000 members, students and employees.

As the City of Buffalo continues the $16.3 million Niagara Street Gateway Construction project, Mayor Brown today thanked Rich Products for its significant commitment to the Buffalo community, which included a re-investment of more than $88 million in its Buffalo headquarters since 2007. Its new $18.5 million Innovation Center, linking associates in WNY with customers around the world, opened in June 2014.  Last month, the Rich Family Foundation announced that it is making a $250,000 donation to Explore & More’s Play It Forward Capital Campaign in honor of Rich retired executive Maureen Hurley, and establishing a scholarship fund - in her honor - to subsidize admissions for needy West Side families.

The Buffalo Opportunity Pledge initiative continues Mayor Brown’s efforts to break down barriers for minorities and women. Under his leadership, the city has hired the most diverse workforce in the city’s history and also continues to incorporate community benefits into many of the city’s largest economic development projects.  View and sign the pledge at:
