MAYOR BROWN ANNOUNCES TOM HAMBRIDGE DAY IN BUFFALO

Proclamation recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of Tom Hambridge

December 28, 2015 – Mayor Byron Brown signed an official proclamation today declaring December 28, 2015 as ‘Tom Hambridge Day’ in the City of Buffalo.  The Buffalo Native has achieved a successful career as a Grammy award-winning Producer, Singer/Songwriter and Drummer, and
was recently nominated for another Grammy Award.

“It’s the tradition of the City of Buffalo to recognize the outstanding accomplishments in the lives of Buffalo citizens and today I’m pleased to recognize Buffalo native and Grammy award-winning Producer, Singer/Songwriter and Drummer Hambridge,” said Mayor Brown.  “Our city is proud of Tom’s achievements and we thank him for his continued commitment and devotion to the arts which help shape the heart of our society, a city’s quality of life and play a key role in spurring economic growth.”

Earlier this month, Buddy Guy's ‘Born to Play Guitar’ was nominated for both Blues Album of the Year and Best Americana Roots Performance. ‘Born to Play Guitar’ is the fifth collaboration between Guy and Tom Hambridge.  The new critically-acclaimed record features twelve songs written by Hambridge (or co-written by Hambridge and Guy) that feature guest appearances by Van Morrison, Joss Stone, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, and Blues singer Kim Wilson.  The 58th Grammy Awards ceremony will be held on February 15, 2016 in Los Angeles.

Hambridge currently resides in Nashville with his wife, Chris, and two daughters who attended today’s proclamation ceremony at Buffalo City Hall.  He and his family were in Buffalo, visiting his parents for the holidays. He also performed a sold-out concert at the famed Sportsmen’s Tavern.
