South District Councilmember Michael P. Kearns was officially sworn into office on December 30, 2005. Councilmember Kearns brings unique experience and perspective to the Council.

Born and raised in South Buffalo, the Councilmember graduated from St. Agatha's Grammar School and Bishop Timon-St. Jude High School before moving on to his post-secondary education at Canisius College in Political Science and Erie Community College in Paralegal Studies.

Councilmember Kearns brings both public and private sector experience to the Council. Kearns, who worked as a Legislative Assistant in the same office he now holds, is returning to City Hall with experience as Vice-President for Kearns & Associates, a highly successful fundraising firm.

On the Council, Councilmember Kearns holds the Chairman seat on both the Claims and Waterfront Development Committees. He also sits on the Civil Service, Education, and Finance Committees.

Councilman Kearns and his wife are raising their daughter in their South Buffalo home.
