Description of Services:

  • Act as counsel to the Mayor, Comptroller, Common Council, and its Committees, all city Departments, Commissions, Boards, Agencies, Board of Education, Buffalo Sewer Authority and Water Board
  • Prosecute and/or defend all actions or proceedings brought by or against the above
  • Study reviews and submits opinions to the above
  • Prepare and approve as to form, ordinances and local laws
  • Review and prepare all bargaining contracts or memoranda of agreement with employee representatives
  • Examine and approve title to all real property acquired by the City and prepare papers and proceedings of sale of City owned property
  • Advises on taxability of property, defends Certiorari proceedings on assessments and prepare foreclosure sale at public auctions
  • Review all contracts signed between city departments and vendors
  • Process and investigate all claims against the City
