|
Description |
Monument sited in center of circular plaza paved with multicolor
stone. Outer edge of plaza surrounded by marble balustrade. Marble
obelisk mounted on octagonal marble base encircled by bronze chain
strung between bronze piers. Steps lead from plaza to fountain basins
adorned with lions, turtles, and ram heads at each corner.
Inscriptions on each of the four sides of the base contain information
on McKinley's birth, military service, career in public office, and
death in Buffalo, NY.

Bio. |
President William McKinley was greeting visitors to the Pan-American
Exposition in Buffalo when he was fatally wounded by the bullet of
assassin Leon Czolgosz.
