Description |
Inscription reads: "Joseph Ellicott, agent for the Holland Land
Company, surveyed and laid out this square in 1803 - 1804. The square
and streets radiating from it remain as originally planned for the
Village of New Amsterdam. Erected by New York State Education
Department and Buffalo Junior Chamber of Commerce, 1940."
