This lamp stand is an exact replica of the center light installed at
Symphony Circle in 1870. It was replaced in 2002 following
reconstruction of the Frederick Law Olmsted-designed roundabout at
Symphony Circle. This project is the culmination of public-private
collaboration involving the City of Buffalo, Erie County, Olmsted
Parks Conservancy, Richmond Neighborhood Community Association,
Symphony Circle Steering Committee, Kleinhans Community Association,
Colgate Industries, and the Rupp Foundation. The light weighs 6,500
lbs., is composed of 95% carbon steel and 5% fiberglass, and runs on
110 volts of electricity. |
