Inscription reads: "The Salvation Army, to the honor and glory of God,
conducted its first meeting in Buffalo, New York on this site January
15, 1884. Captain William Evans in charge. Commemorated October 5,
1974 by Commissioner Bramwell Tripp, Territorial Commander, Brigadier
Charles Southwood, Divisional Commander, The Honorable Stanley M.
Makowski, Mayor."
