Cleveland stands dressed in period garb; overcoat, jacket, and slacks. The inscription on the front of the base reads: "Grover Cleveland 1837-1908, Mayor of Buffalo 1882, Governor of New York State 1883-1884, President of the United States 1885-1889, 1893-1897." The proper right side of the base is engraved with an eagle and shield. The proper left side of the base is engraved with the seal of the City of Buffalo. The inscription on the rear of the base reads: "'I have tried so hard to do right.' This statue was erected from a fund bequeathed to the city of Buffalo by James G. Forsyth."

Bio.
This statue was unveiled together with the Bryant Baker statue of Millard Fillmore during the dedication of the new City Hall. Both statues adorn the corners of the building.
