Mayor Brown Announces Investment In Buffalo Niagara Enterprise

Mayor Byron Brown announced today that the City of Buffalo has allocated $50,000 to the Buffalo Niagara Enterprise (BNE).  With the city’s funding commitment to the region’s research, marketing, business and economic development attraction organization, Mayor Brown also assumes a seat on the BNE Board of Directors.

“My administration is committed to leading the economic resurgence that has been occurring in the City of Buffalo and this investment is a symbol of our continued effort to advance public-private partnerships to successfully advance Buffalo’s economic development goals and agenda,” said Mayor Brown, noting that over $5.5 billion in new economic development activity is currently underway in Buffalo, which is expected to create over 12,000 jobs.  “Just look at our city today. Cranes are up in the sky, property taxes are down, job growth is higher than it has been in a quarter century and unemployment is the lowest it’s been in eight years.  I look forward to this collaborative effort with the BNE.”

“This is a very unique time in our community’s history and an incredibly exciting time to be in the economic development industry here,” said Buffalo Niagara Enterprise President & CEO Thomas Kucharski.  “The momentum we have experienced to date has been remarkable and the potential for more success is very real.  I thank Mayor Brown and his staff for their vision and commitment, and I look forward to this partnership.”

Today’s announcement builds on the Brown administration’s continued partnership with the Buffalo Niagara Enterprise on a number of economic development initiatives in Buffalo.

“BNE’s work with the Brown administration and City of Buffalo has produced great results in recent years,” said BNE Board Chairman Randy Clark, Chairman of Dunn Tire, LLC.  “My colleagues and fellow investors are very pleased to welcome Mayor Brown to our board of directors as we work together to further advance our city and region.”
