Buffalo City Hall Lights Up For The Holidays

Buffalo - Buffalo City Hall comes alive for the holidays! Tonight, Mayor Byron W. Brown, joined by City Commissioners, Directors and employees, led the countdown for the second annual Outdoor Holiday Tree Lighting at Buffalo City Hall.  The tree, located on the façade of the fourth floor portico of Buffalo City Hall, shimmers in white. To mark this special occasion, the Dome of City Hall was lit in festive colors of red, green and white.

“As the City of Light, we’re lighting up Buffalo City Hall this holiday season and pleased to show it in a whole new light as we illuminate the city skyline with special top colors on this historic building,” said Mayor Brown.

Today’s tree lighting follows a weekend of Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremonies throughout Buffalo.  As part of tonight’s festivities, Mayor Brown reminded residents and visitors about a number of holiday events including the 2016 Queen City Pop Up - Holiday Edition, which is now underway at 50 Fountain Plaza, Suite 110.   Store hours are Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Saturday from noon - 4:00 p.m. Queen City Pop-Up is downtown’s first pop-up retail program.  Six local retailers were selected to participate this year: Kissed by the Sun Spices; Silver Kaleidoscope Jewelry; Whimsy Confections; FilmXposed; Djuana Munn Skincare and Popcorn Kernel.

Mayor Brown also encouraged families to check out the City’s outdoor skating venues which opened last weekend at Rotary Rink on Main Street and along the downtown waterfront at Canalside.
