Mayor Brown and PAL Present a Sneak Peek of the Live Auction Items for the 2017 PAL Auction

November 9 – With the 17th Annual PAL Auction just around the corner, Mayor Byron Brown along with the Police Athletic League of Buffalo (PAL) Board of Directors are encouraging WNY residents, business owners, and PAL supporters to attend the 17th Annual Police Athletic League of Buffalo (PAL) Auction on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center in Buffalo (5:30pm – 9pm). The auction will raise proceeds that are used to support PAL educational, athletic, and cultural programs that benefit the lives of children ages 5-21.
“The work of the Buffalo Police Athletic League is vitally important, improving the quality of life of many of our city youth,” said Mayor Brown, the honorary co-chair of the 2017 PAL Auction. “PAL programs make a significant difference in the lives of our children. I encourage all city residents to do what they can to support the upcoming fundraiser which directly benefits this organization. It also focuses on bringing police and the community even closer together, particularly our officers and young people.”
For over sixty years, PAL has improved the quality of life for our regions’s youth. The Annual PAL Auction raises vital funds, enabling PAL to serve over 20,000 children annually in the Greater Buffalo and Western New York community with supervised activities in safe, structured environments. PAL is well known for its sports programs (such as tennis, boxing, golf and basketball) but also provides cultural & educational programs such as reading, culinary arts, mentoring and leadership.
William Patrick “Bill” Polian, Jr. is a 2015 National Football League Hall of Fame Inductee, will be one of the featured guest speakers at the 2017 PAL Auction. Polian spent 32 seasons in the NFL during which time he earned the reputation of rebuilding franchises into dominant playoff teams. Polian, who began in the NFL as a scout for the Kansas City Chiefs from (1978-82), took over as the general manager of the Bills in 1984. He built Buffalo into a powerhouse and led the team to four straight AFC Eastern Division

titles from 1988 to 1991 including back-to-back 13-3 records in 1990 and 1991. The Bills also earned three straight Super Bowl berths after winning the AFC championship in 1990-92.
PAL hosts many special events over the course of each year. However, the Annual PAL Auction is the capstone event used to raise vital funds to continue the invaluable programs that PAL provides.
